What is it?
Paraffin Wax Treatments are luxurious treatments that are intended to moisturize and soften the skin and also provide a therapeutic and healing heat to aching joints, making it particularly beneficial for those suffering from arthritis and rheumatic pain.
Because it is a soft wax, it melts at a lower than normal temperature. This means that the skin can be coated without causing burning or blistering. The treatment is particularly popular in the winter when people who experience seasonal dry skin, cracked heels and hands, and cold feet and hands and also aching backs, neck and shoulders. What are the benefits?

Physicians, Physiotherapists, Podiatrists and Arthritis specialists, have recommended Paraffin Wax therapy since 1962, because it is one of the most effective ways of applying heat to reduce the swelling in muscles, decrease inflammation of joints and connective tissues, soothe the pain from arthritis and improve circulation.

The Treatment Consists of:
Hands or Feet are thoroughly covered in the paraffin wax, when the paraffin wax sets, it retains the heat and this warms, soothes and moisturises. The hands and/or feet are placed in a protective cover and then into special mittens or booties to retain the warmth and intensify the moisturisation process.
After 10 minutes the paraffin is removed and the procedure is completed with a light massage and the application of a luxurious cream or oil.

The procedure (for Back, Neck & Shoulders) 45 mins £30.00
During your treatment your back (and neck and shoulders) is covered with a coating of paraffin wax and covered with a plastic wrap. This process retains the heat of the paraffin wax ensuring your body receives the full benefits from this indulgent treatment.
Next your body is covered by warm towels towel to retain as much heat as possible and intensify the moisturisation process. This is because the warm, molten wax soothes and moisturises skin, opens pores and increases circulation; it also helps people relax.
After 10 minutes the paraffin wax is removed and you receive a 15 minute back massage using luxurious moisterising oils.
History of Paraffin Wax Treatments
Used since the days of the Roman Empire, warm paraffin wax has been lauded for its therapeutic properties
- The Romans would spread the (not too) hot waxes on the body in preparation for their therapeutic massage
- Later, the French used to spread melted paraffin wax on wounds to accelerate healing •
- In World War I, the British used paraffin wax therapy as a protocol to treat orthopedic disorders in military hospitals.
Paraffin wax treatments are not recommended for people with the following conditions:

• Inflammatory skin conditions
• Open cuts
